Piston Guide Rings

For preventing metal-to-metal contact between piston and cylinder during sliding (particularly in case of lateral forces), PTFE guide ring is simple assembly and wear-resistant. Thanks for its good media resistance, the piston guide ring can be used in several media ranging from mineral oil-based hydraulic liquids, environment-friendly hydraulic liquids and water-oil emulsions to flame-resistant hydraulic liquids and dry-running applications. Piston guide rings offer very good gliding behavior, good emergency running properties and also a high wear resistance. Additionally, they help to attenuate mechanical vibrations.

A hydraulic cylinder piston and rod are guided by the guide ring, which also absorbs lateral forces. Metal-on-metal contact between the cylinder’s moving parts, such as the piston and the cylinder or the rod and the cylinder head. These non-metallic guide rings have a high bearing load capacity, eliminate local stress concentrations, are wear-resistant, have a low coefficient of friction, and have low maintenance costs.

The piston ring is a component that is required for an engine to function properly. It is located between the piston and the cylinder. The combustion chamber is sealed by piston rings, which transfer heat to the cylinder wall and regulate oil consumption. The internal spring force that extends a piston ring based on the design and qualities of the material employed is known as inherent pressure. To compress a piston ring to a smaller diameter, inherent pressure necessitates a large force.
